Chainlink is a network that feeds real-world data, such as prices, into smart contracts, a service called an "oracle." Its token, LINK, pays the network's node operators. LINK is a token on Ethereum and other chains, not a blockchain of its own. Full Chainlink fact sheet →
What moves the Chainlink price
No one sets the Chainlink price. It's the last price at which buyers and sellers traded on exchanges, averaged across many markets. It moves with demand from investors and traders, news and regulation, interest rates and the wider stock market, big holders buying or selling, and leverage being wiped out in fast drops. Short-term moves are close to impossible to predict. See why crypto prices fall and how to read a crypto chart.
What the numbers mean
- Price is the latest traded price in US dollars, averaged across exchanges. The price on your exchange can differ a little, and buying usually costs more than the quoted price because of spreads and fees (see the true cost calculator).
- 24h change compares now with the price exactly 24 hours ago.
- Market cap is price × coins in circulation. It's a snapshot of size, not money invested (market cap explained).
- Volume is how much was traded in the last 24 hours across tracked exchanges.
- All-time high is the highest price ever recorded and how far today's price is from it.
