Crypto profit calculator

See your real profit or loss after fees, your percentage return, and the price you need to break even.

Purchase fee
Taken out of the amount you spent.
Sale fee
Taken out of what you receive.

Assumes fees are as entered, the purchase fee reduces the coins you get, and the sale fee comes out of the sale. Excludes taxes, slippage and price changes between quotes. Not a prediction.

How it's calculated

  1. Coins bought = (amount spent − purchase fee) ÷ purchase price
  2. You receive = coins × selling price − sale fee
  3. Profit = what you receive − amount spent; return = profit ÷ amount spent
  4. Break-even price = (amount spent + sale fee) ÷ coins, or with a percentage fee, amount spent ÷ (coins × (1 − fee))

Questions

Does this work for any coin?

Yes. It works for any cryptocurrency or asset: just enter the prices per coin.

Should I include the spread?

If your exchange's price was above the market price, use the price you actually paid. That builds the spread in.

Is profit taxed?

In the US, a profit when you sell is usually a taxable capital gain. See our crypto taxes guide.
