Will Bitcoin hit $1 million?
What a $1 million bitcoin would actually mean, worked out with simple math.
Nobody knows. At $1 million per coin, Bitcoin's roughly 20 million coins would be worth about $20 trillion, around 70% of the value of all the gold in the world. Some well-known bulls predict it by 2030; many others think it will never happen.
The math
A coin's total value (its market cap) is the price times the number of coins. More than 20 million bitcoins exist, heading for 21 million.

For comparison, all the gold ever mined was valued at about $28 trillion in September 2026. A $1 million bitcoin would mean Bitcoin is worth roughly 70% as much as all of it.
Who predicts it, and who doesn't
Investment firm ARK Invest published 2030 scenarios in April 2025 ranging from about $300,000 (its bear case) to about $1.5 million (its bull case). Since then it has trimmed its bull case to about $1.2 million (November 2025), and its January 2026 report projected a Bitcoin market value of about $16 trillion by 2030, roughly $760,000 per coin. Supporters argue Bitcoin could take a large share of the money now held in gold and other "safe" assets. Skeptics point out that Bitcoin produces no income, faces regulatory risk, and could be overtaken by other technology; some think its fair value is far lower than today's price.
The honest answer
Price predictions, even from famous investors, are guesses. Bitcoin's record so far is $126,210, set in October 2025. Treat any prediction as one opinion, never as a reason to invest more than you can afford to lose.
