XRP is the native coin of the XRP Ledger, a blockchain built for fast, cheap payments that launched in 2012. It doesn't use mining: all 100 billion XRP were created at launch, and the company Ripple holds a large share. Full XRP fact sheet →
What moves the XRP price
No one sets the XRP price. It's the last price at which buyers and sellers traded on exchanges, averaged across many markets. It moves with demand from investors and traders, news and regulation, interest rates and the wider stock market, big holders buying or selling, and leverage being wiped out in fast drops. Short-term moves are close to impossible to predict. See why crypto prices fall and how to read a crypto chart.
What the numbers mean
- Price is the latest traded price in US dollars, averaged across exchanges. The price on your exchange can differ a little, and buying usually costs more than the quoted price because of spreads and fees (see the true cost calculator).
- 24h change compares now with the price exactly 24 hours ago.
- Market cap is price × coins in circulation. It's a snapshot of size, not money invested (market cap explained).
- Volume is how much was traded in the last 24 hours across tracked exchanges.
- All-time high is the highest price ever recorded and how far today's price is from it.
